Caribe Royale Orlando Convention Center Expansion By the Numbers
Welcome to Orlando, a city known for its world-renowned theme parks, friendly locals, delicious eats, sunny weather, and extraordinary hospitality. Ranked as CVENT’s Number 1 Meetings Destination in the country for six years running, the reasons for holding a meeting in the City Beautiful are as plentiful as its hotels’ sparkling pools. And as the meetings industry begins to reinvent itself on the heels of the pandemic, you’ll find the Caribe Royale Orlando going through a transformation of its own.
In addition to a complete renovation of all 1,215 guest suites and public areas, the Caribe Royale is nearing completion on a 50,000 square foot expansion of its popular convention center. Scott Flexman, Caribe Royale Orlando’s Director of Sales and Marketing, shared ,“We needed space to meet the growing needs of our meeting planning community. It was clear they loved the Caribe Royale’s single level convention offerings and we had to maximize that we are in the center of the action for Central Florida.”
The reaction from the meeting and event community has been overwhelmingly positive. In October 2020, the Caribe Royale offered a sneak peek of its expansion plans to a group of leading event organizers who were attending the Connect conference. They were awestruck by the scale and modern design of the resort’s plans. The Caribe Royale meeting and events team is fielding inquiries from event planners for 2021 and beyond.
Orlando’s favorite event venue is being reimagined through a stunning $125 million renovation, with gracious hospitality on a grand scale. Amaury Piedra, General Manager of Caribe Royale Orlando says, “As the expansion of the Caribe Royale Convention Center continues, we remain focused on a vibrant guest experience with thoughtful design, which is highlighted in the cutting edge features of our additional meeting space, completely renovated suites, and technologically enhanced lobby area. These projects will create a dynamic hub for meetings.” The improvements will allow the convention center to host more events, remain competitive with other Central Florida convention centers, and set the new standard in the meetings industry.
The new Palms Ballroom expansion began on January 6, 2020 and is expected to be unveiled in March 2021. Here’s a sneak peek at the numbers behind this epic expansion.
“Our convention center’s strategic location connects meeting planners to the theme parks and Orlando’s top-notch dining scene,” Flexman added. “The feedback we’re receiving from planners is extremely gratifying since the project has required the collective effort of many people. We are excited about the Caribe Royale’s capacity to bring not only more meetings and conventions to Orlando but more jobs and opportunities to the people who call Central Florida home.” When completed, the Caribe Royale Orlando is expected to drive more than 400,000 new conventioneers to Central Florida and bring demand year-round to attractions, retailers, local restaurants and performing arts centers. The Caribe Royale Orlando’s new convention center is an economic catalyst for Central Florida. Thoughtfully designed and centered in the heart of Orlando’s attractions, this extraordinary new addition will provide enough space for meetings and conventions ranging from 10-10,000 attendees.
