10 Things For Kids To do
10 Things for kids to do while their parents are at a Caribe Royale conference
Appropriately dubbed the “Theme Park Capital of the World,” Orlando has no shortage of places to run wild and have fun. Should you choose to invest in a park ticket or annual pass, or opt for more budget-friendly activities, there’s plenty of excitement waiting to be explored. Whether your kids beg to come along with you, or you just can’t find a baby-sitter, the entertainment options in The City Beautiful are truly endless. Here are the top ten things to do with your little (or even slightly bigger) ones in Orlando during your Caribe Royale conference stay.
You won’t find better views in the entire city than you will at the top of this 400 foot tall observation wheel—the highest on the east coast. Hop aboard one of the 30 air-conditioned pods and take in the 360-degree views that include many natural lakes and man-made bodies of water, Central Florida landmarks such as Kennedy Space Center and Legoland and, of course, Universal Orlando and Walt Disney World. The Wheel is even equipped with 64,000 color-changing LEDs, which make for a dazzling light show at night. When you’re finished with your 18-minute ride, roam around ICON Park, the $250 million entertainment complex at the foot of the wheel where you have a plethora of options when it comes to shopping and dining. This family-friendly experience is appropriate for all ages.
Home to two theme parks, one water park and its very own shopping/dining/entertainment district (which is free to park guests after 6 p.m.), Universal Orlando is a vacation destination that is not to be missed. Be a part of your favorite stories, discover mystical and magical worlds, help save the day and or just relax in your own slice of island paradise. Universal has it all and every heart-pounding, jaw-dropping, goose-bumping second counts. This is the only place where you can turn spending time with your family into spending time as a family.
Caribe Royale is only six minutes away from “The Most Magical Place on Earth” and is happy to be a Walt Disney World Good Neighbor® Hotel. We offer free scheduled transportation to and from Walt Disney World® Ticket & Transportation Center, as well as an evening shuttle to the Disney Springs™ area. Walt Disney World is home to four theme parks, two water parks, a shopping/dining/entertainment district and much, much more. Visiting Orlando without visiting Mickey’s home would be like heading to Paris and missing the Eiffel Tower. However, it goes without saying that you can’t see all of Walt Disney World in a single trip. This beloved vacation destination occupies an area that’s roughly twice the size of Manhattan. If you’re traveling with small children, plan on spending one day per park. For older kids, park hopping is a fun and ideal way to relive childhood memories and create new ones.
Equal parts wildlife preserve and theme park, Gatorland is 110-acres of affordable family fun. As part of their Trainer-for-a-Day program, wrestle a full-size alligator, feed a baby gator and get up close and personal with some of their reptiles and creepy crawlers. If you’d rather see these animals from afar, try your hand at the Screamin’ Gator Zipline, voted “Best Zip Line in the USA” by AOL Travel. Your journey will take you up seven stories and along 1,200 feet of high flying, heart pounding adventure over Cuban and Nile Crocodiles and the Alligator Breeding Marsh. There are also plenty of other activities to enjoy, such as a petting zoo, nature walk and one-of-a-kind reptilian shows including the Gator Wrestlin’ Show, Gator Jumparoo and the Up-close Encounters Show. Finally, be sure to take a ride on the Gatorland Express train and head over to Gator Gully Splash Park for a good ol’ fashion squirt-fest.

The serene Lake Eola Park and iconic Centennial Fountain have been a focal point for city life since the earliest settlers used to water their cattle here. This 43-acre recreational area is the heart of downtown Orlando and the perfect place to spend a peaceful afternoon relaxing amid the beautiful flower beds and taking in the spectacular views of Orlando’s skyline. Kids will love the large playground with activities for every age, but the highlight here is definitely the swans—both real and of the paddleboat variety. Rent one of the swan-shaped paddle boats and glide alongside their real-life counterparts (Be sure to take pictures!). If you time your visit right, you might also be able to catch a free concert or event at the park’s Walt Disney Amphitheater. If you get hungry, pack a picnic to eat along the shore or grab a bite at one of the many local restaurants in the area.
